Legal Hackathon Miami (“LHM”), an event designed to enhance technology in the legal profession, took place this past weekend at Miami’s premier co-working space, Pipeline Brickell, located in the heart of Miami’s Brickell Financial District. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation sponsored the grand prize of $5,000 for “Best Legal App,” which was awarded to “Pocket Docket”, an app that allows lawyers to send live updates to clients regarding their case and enables clients to access case files and history.  The “Pocket Docket” team included: Jaime Allauca Palacios, Javier Pablo Carabeo, Pedro Andre Carabeo-Nieva, and Gustavo Adolfo Rearte.

Venture accelerator Blue Startups has selected Pharmid as one of seven teams for its first cohort.

The selected companies hail from Honolulu, and San Diego and Redwood City, Calif. The companies receive $20,000 as an up-front investment, and access to more than $100,000 in in-kind services.

Pharmbid is the first software of its kind directed at the pharmaceutical industry to combat drug shortages. It is a reverse bidding platform that allows healthcare facilities to request bids from vendors for all pharmaceutical needs.
