Lalchandani Simon preparing to defend alleged video game downloaders in Aerosoft GMBH v. John Does 1-50, 1:12-cv-21489-PAS

July 27, 2012  |   News

Lalchandani Simon is preparing to respond to subpoena notices sent out by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to John Doe Defendants in a new class of copyright “troll” cases filed against alleged video game downloaders: 1:12-cv-21489-PAS Aerosoft GMBH v. John Does 1-50, which concerns the game “Airbus X.”

The past year has seen a tremendous increase in mass copyright cases filed by copyright holders against hundreds or thousands of nameless “Doe Defendants” by so-called “Copyright Trolls.” These cases are often used to force settlement payments out of potentially innocent defendants identified only by their IP addresses. Many of these cases settle because the plaintiffs use the threat of statutory damages ranging from $30,000.00 to $250,000.00. Lalchandani Simon PL helps to defend John Does and will move to dismiss the case, quash discovery, and sever improperly joined defendants in order to protect our clients and prevent their personal information from being disclosed.
